Why petty squabbles are irrelevant

So supercomputers depend on superconducting materials which in turn depend on super low temperatures at or near 0K (at least currently). The theory is that once we crack the supercomputer nut we could potentially use it to predict a method of creating superconductors that function at room temperature. That means we can create supercomputers that could potentially sit on your desk top. It's the 1970's again 😄

A culture of respecting silliness

I realise that many of you think it's wrong of me to publicly ridicule religion but i'd just like to clarify the situation. It doesn't make me feel good to shame others and i don't think i'm better than anyone just because i have the capacity for basic reasoning.

Why so many people still don't understand science

The longer an argument remains unsettled the more it devolves into an argument of semantics. We're all logical beings to varying degrees and with sufficient logic and reasoning we should all eventually agree on everything. But the opposite appears to be true, as a species we seem to agree very rarely.

Scientific theory is not opinion

When scientists and engineers hear phrases like "i believe" or "i have faith" what they're really hearing is "i don't have enough evidence but i'm not willing to keep searching so i'm taking a short cut and jumping to the nearest conclusion".

Information vs Violence

Don't let Barnaby Jack 's death be in vain. We need a global recall of wireless life sustaining devices like insulin pumps, pacemakers and defibrillators. The software on these devices must be completely open source so that third parties are able to review and patch the inevitable vulnerabilities.

The Tiny Atacama Desert Mummy

The partially mummified remains of a humanoid creature dubbed Ata was discovered in the Atacama Desert in 2003.

Is Atheism a Religion?

Religious people like to push atheism aside as "just another religion". Atheism is a religion like spectatorship is a sport. That argument doesn't really hold water but i think the real argument is about science.

A Profound Understanding of Technology

The rate of technological growth is very predictable and is exponential. To draw a correlation; the Mayan calendar is understood to be a measure of significant technological events with an exponential decrease in interval time. This almost immediately disproves the man-in-the-sky idea of god because once we have successfully reverse engineered the human body we will be able to make vast performance improvements. The predictability of technology also simultaneously proves that there is some kind of divine plan at work. The machines will eventually take over but we won't be separate from them, we will become self-engineered, bio-mechanical, super intelligent beings. The singularity is upon us :D

Religiously Sceptic

Scepticism is incorrectly believed to be a stance of closed mindedness when in fact a sceptic is always open to all information. Not everyone decides to or can afford to become a scientist but that does not exclude people from taking part in a world of logic and rationality. A sceptic is a person that has consciously decided to be a part of that world and is always mindful of accepted facts while remaining open to new information. It is vitally important that as sceptics we place our focus on facts rather than conclusions lest we risk falling into the trap of faith which might cause us to adjust the evidence to fit a desired conclusion rather that adjusting the conclusion to fit the evidence. There are a number of religions in our world and while things may have been more aggressive in the past the faithful now use passion as their medium to compete with other religions. "My religion is the most real because i have genuinely felt the awesome power o...
