The partially mummified remains of a humanoid creature dubbed Ata was discovered in the Atacama Desert in 2003.
The facts about Ata
- The specimen is about 15 centimeters tall
- It is certain that this is not a monkey
- A sufficient amount of intact DNA was extracted from it and studied
- It's DNA is closer to human DNA than any other species including our closest relative, the chimpanzee
- It has at least one human ancestor
- It has 9 ribs (humans have 12, rarely 11, very rarely 10)
- It has been determined that it is only a few decades old
- It is not a fetus, it lived to the age of 6 to 8 years
- It was breathing, eating and metabolising
- If this is a human mutation then this would be the most mutated human being ever discovered with significantly more individual genetic mutations than anything else
