Green is ANC dominated and blue is DA . The first impression one gets when looking at the results for the Upper Highway area in Durban is that it is predominantly ANC run with pockets of DA support. Not unlike most of South Africa and it's what most people have come to expect of South African elections.

If one truly believes in the free market system then so should they support unpaid labour (slavery). If both parties consent to the exchange of labour for food and lodging then under a truly free market, that should be allowed. By interfering with that trade through government regulations (socialism) or the like, one is stifling the natural balancing effect of the theoretical "invisible hand". To put it bluntly, you either support slavery in a market system or you support the abolition of slavery through socialist means.

The free market system depends on competition to balance cost and quality and to ultimately create efficient production. That's the ideal behind it. But in order for any competition to produce reliable "winners" the judges need to be well educated in the subject matter. In the case of a free market socio-economic system the "judges" (aka the citizens) are themselves in competition to earn "votes" (aka money). For this reason people simply don't have time to educate themselves sufficiently when they're trying to earn "votes" needed to increase their own influence.

We tend to structure human society according to the rules of "survival of the fittest". This may have been necessary for us over the millennia and it may arguably still be necessary for us right now but at some point we need to take advantage of our analytical conciousness and properly design an efficient society.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins is a book which explains the inner workings of a capitalist empire. Creditism is a mechanism used to instill materialistic values which creates slavery through debt. A communist world is a one which has overcome materialism and values the well being of community and environment. The acquisition of resources is merely a means to achieve communal and environmental well being.

Religious people are willfully, blissfully ignorant so this post is targeted at atheists who advocate acceptance of religion. As long as religious beliefs don't encroach on the rights of others, let the religious believe what they want. A seemingly reasonable argument? Not when you consider the bigger picture.

The word "utopia" implies a perfect society which is an oxymoron in itself because a society that stagnates is far from perfect. Like anything living; society needs to grow and adapt. The word communism also strikes fear into uninformed minds but in reality it's the sustainable approach when compared to free market capitalism or what we live in today which is creditism or wage slavery.

Communism is the purest form of democracy and information is the key to it’s success. Barack Obama was voted into power thanks to a number of promises he made about upholding freedoms and avoiding war. During his term he has broken most, if not all of those promises . The people of the United States didn’t necessarily vote for Obama, they voted for liberties and peace and they assumed Obama would deliver.

We can’t blame politicians, bankers, corporate elite or anyone for that matter, for the problems in the world. Everyone is playing the role they see as fit under the current socio-economic system. Once you remove yourself from a perspective that is restricted by the constraints of the current system, the situation becomes crystal clear and the simple solution becomes apparent.

I firmly believe that the path to a resource based global socio-economic system lies in the opening up of information. Absolute equality coupled with free information and advanced technology are the key to the success of the communist ideals that have failed many times in the past. It's one thing to design a sustainable system for future generations but it's a whole new game when trying to plot a path to get there. I've come up with what i believe is a plausible option for the transition from a capitalist, elitist system to a resource based economy.

I’m certainly no stranger to saying the wrong things at the wrong time and since i have somewhat of a public presence online (albeit very small) i thought it’d be a good opportunity to learn from this situation. Over the past few years there have been a growing number of notable events taking place in the middle east. Despite the terrorist label the American government has worked so hard to instill in people's minds the Arab people have risen above it and they are setting an example of unity and ethics that is changing the the face of the world.

BEE is blatantly corrupt and racist yet our "leaders" speak of it as if it's perfectly acceptable and even necessary. I have even heard the phrase "No one questions the necessity of BEE, it's the implementation that must be discussed". This is strange to me since 90% of the people i speak to on this topic (black, white, coloured, indian) have said that it's racist and destructive. That's certainly at least a small group of people that do question it.

WikiLeaks is undeniably a great asset to the freedom of information movement . Geoff Morrell, pentagon spokesperson urges WikiLeaks to "do the right thing" and remove all copies of classified US military data on the invasion of Afghanistan  from their websites so that enemies of the US are prevented from using the data to gain an advantage. This is blatant disrespect for the audience since any enemy of the US would have acquired the data long before it made it into the limelight. So either the US government is trying to make an example of WikiLeaks to prevent leaks in future or they want to prevent the information from permeating further into the public domain due to embarrassing or possibly incriminating information . If the former was their intention then they would have been far more stern than to just release a removal request through the media. The skilled and intellectual are leaving in droves to escape the deterioration of South Africa . We have moved beyond white guilt by now. The ANC has done an amazing job of supporting the argument that black people are not fit to run a country. Racists have no reason to question their beliefs anymore, and those who were never racist are now saying "look at what the blacks are doing". It's got nothing to do with genetics or pigmentation, it's to do with a culture that is not only supported by the ANC, but is the piller that holds it up. It's a culture of lying, cheating and stealing and avoiding responsibility by passing the blame on to apartheid , COPE , the DA or whoever it can be pinned on. One of the internet's greatest strengths is the fact that it is decentralised. With the emergence of cloud computing powerhouses such as Google and Facebook we are seeing the decay of a decentralised internet. Majority of our time online is spent "logged in" to some or other cloud infrastructure which has sweeping power over our personal information. Now i'm fairly lax about Google having access to my personal info because they have been true to their "do no evil" motto and let's be honest, it is alot better being served adverts that are appropriate to my interests. Today we had yet another unscheduled power outage, nothing surprising. After about an hour without electricity, the power came on again followed shortly by a loud abrupt grinding noise which lasted about three seconds and disappeared as suddenly as it started. A number of residents from our complex (myself included) came out to see what the noise was all about and noticed pipes and cables sticking out of a muddied hole in front of the complex near the electricity box. We concluded that it was an electrical explosion. After a few minutes of standing around calling Jacob Maroga all kinds of names the coffin sized hole burst into electrical flames once more. As if 100 Vietnamese guerillas started firing AKs all in unison from a hidden bunker beneath the pavement.
